- <p> Crime fighter by day, composer and pianist by night. When
- Law & Order's Michael Moriarty slips off the suspenders he
- sports as prosecutor Ben Stone, he slips into a melody-making
- alter ego. "Music was my first interest; I listened to it in the
- bassinet," says Moriarty, a regular performer on the New York
- City jazz-club circuit. Later this month, Manhattanites will
- sample Moriarty's talents as a classical composer when he
- conducts his Symphony for Strings Orchestra at an annual music
- festival.
